This project by artist Sonia Boyce was first presented as a performance at Magdalen College,Oxford in 2007. The work brings together the exquisite early Renaissance music of Josquin Desprez (1440–1521), sung by the early music consort Alamire under the direction of David Skinner, with the contemporary voice of sound artist Mikhail Karikis.

In parallel with the live music performance in Stowe School Chapel on 24May 2008,Milton Keynes Gallery presents Boyce’s dramatic three-screen video installation, created from footage of the original performance in Oxford, in the Music Room, Stowe School.

In this video installation, Boyce traces a powerful matrix of musical and emotional connections between each of the performers and us as their audience to produce a work of startling beauty.

An associated project publication will be available for sale, both at theMusic Room, Stowe School, and from Milton Keynes Gallery Shop.
